Properties of Alganite®

Environmental Friendly Alganite® is a 100% natural mineral product.

Alganite® is produced from what remains after the combustion of shale. Most of mineral catlitters are quarried and dried for the production of cat litter. Shale is quarried and combusted for the production of energy and steam and the Alganite® is a by-product of this process. Because of this the production of Alganite® is relative environmental friendly.

Absorption capacity:
Alganite® has a high absorption capacity – a 70% water absorption capacity and a 70-80% oil absorption capacity when applying the Westinghouse system for absorption of oil spills.

Density:
Alganite® is a light weight product with a density of 630-680 kg/m3.
